Answer

Charnwood Borough Council is not responsible for Social Care, this service falls under Leicestershire County Council.  We have provided below, figures which relate to works carried out in our properties only.  We have also provided an overview of the Disability Facilities Grants that we administered in 2012/13

1. The total number of bathroom adaptations into accessible shower rooms for 2012/13 100

2. The total cost of these adaptations for 2012/13 We do not hold this information broken down.  The total cost of major adaptations in 2012/13 was £557,282.53

3. The grand total cost of keeping elderly and disabled people in their own homes to include bathroom adaptations, kitchen adaptations, any other home adaptations, providing daily living products including any other expenditure for 2012/13 We completed 302 adaptations in 12/13. We spent £686,521.32 on all adapts last year (Major, Minor and Stair lifts)

4. The budget for item 3 above for 2013/14 Budget for 13/14 for stair lifts is £30,000, major adapts is £245,000 and minor adaptations is £75,000

5. The total number of bath lifts provided in years 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13
Our Repairs and Maintenance system shows that no bath lifts have been installed by Charnwood Borough Council.  Bath Lifts may be installed by Social Services through the County Council

In terms of DFGs in the Private Sector in 12/13, 76 grants were awarded where the primary need identified was access to bathing facilities. The total cost of these grants was £470,244.90 – however, in some cases the adaptation could have been an extension or included a stair lift etc. rather than relate solely to a bathroom adaptation.
