Question

We are currently conducting research into the consequences the removal of the spare room subsidy has had locally.

We wish to gather information relating to rent arrears since the changes, introduced by the Welfare Reform Act 2012, took effect in April 2013.

We are requesting the following information relating to tenancy's where the subsidy has been removed.

1. number of notices served in relation to rent arrears
2. court action commenced in relation to rent arrears
3. Discretionary Housing Benefit awarded
4. number of evictions in relation to rent arrears

In addition, in relation to all tenancies, please provide the overall monthly figures for
2013 and 2014 for rent arrears evictions and total outstanding rent debts on your accounts.

Answer

3.   Discretionary Housing Benefit awarded                  - 229 Tenants**
4.   Number of evictions in relation to rent arrears – Zero (0)
The above figures relate to the end of March 2013/14.
*** Please note DHP data but does not relate to the full year as some tenants were paid for different periods.     

In addition, in relation to all tenancies, please provide the overall monthly figures for 2013 and 2014 for rent arrears evictions and total outstanding rent debts on your accounts.
We do not as yet hold any figures for 2014/15.  Figures for 2012/13 and 2013/14 are provided below.
