Question

As you will be aware, all councils must maintain Development Plan Documents (DPDs), which set out the planning conditions for the town.
I would like to know:
1. What is your town's overall DPD? Please give name and an online link so I can access it (preferably in pdf format).
2. Does your DPD contain a specific commitment to food growing, as part of new developments and/or redevelopments?
3. If your current DPD does not contain such a commitment, do you intend to introduce one in your next DPD?

Answer

1. What is your town's overall DPD? Please give name and an online link so I can access it (preferably in pdf format).
The Development Plan which covers the Charnwood area is the ‘Borough of Charnwood Local Plan’ which was adopted in 2004.  The Borough of Charnwood Local Plan is due to be replaced by the ‘Charnwood Local Plan Core Strategy’ which may be adopted in 2015, but is currently undergoing formal examination.
The Charnwood Local Plan Core Strategy is classed as a Development Plan Document, whilst the Borough of Charnwood Local Plan is not.
The adopted ‘Borough of Charnwood Local Plan’ can be viewed at any public library within Charnwood, Leicestershire County Council offices,  Charnwood Borough Council offices (Southfields) or using the following link to the council’s website:
https://www.charnwood.gov.uk/pages/localplan1

2. Does your DPD contain a specific commitment to food growing, as part of new developments and/or redevelopments?
The Borough of Charnwood Local Plan does not contain a specific commitment to food growing as part of new developments.

3. If your current DPD does not contain such a commitment, do you intend to introduce one in your next DPD?"
The Charnwood Local Plan Core Strategy (Policy CS15 Open Spaces, Sport and Recreation) includes a set of standards for different types of open space, one of which is for allotment provision.
