Activity groups which help older people stay active have been celebrated at an awards ceremony.
The ‘Feel Alive at 65’ Celebration Evening, run by Leicestershire and Rutland Sport, celebrates people who continue to stay physically active.
Activity groups run by Charnwood Borough Council were among those who were recognised.
Thurmaston Games Morning won the Community Group Award for its work to help members improve their physical and mental health.
The group offers activities such as New Age Kurling, indoor bowls and table top games.
Councillor Jonathan Morgan, Lead Member for Community Cohesion said: “We’re committed to supporting our residents to stay mentally and physically healthy, so it’s fantastic to see our groups rewarded for their hard work.
“We have a range of activities on offer for older residents to help them stay healthy and active including regular walking groups around the borough, games mornings and falls prevention sessions.
Parkinson’s Chair Based Exercise group in Loughborough and Barrow upon Soar Walking Group were both shortlisted for awards.
