Love Loughborough and Charnwood Borough Council are co-sponsoring the BIG Weekend, a special weekend of comedy taking place in Loughborough for the second year, as part of Leicester Comedy Festival 2017.
The BIG Weekend returns after the hugely successful pilot year in 2016. Leicester Comedy Festival is the UK’s longest running comedy festival and attracts huge amounts of national media coverage, as well as audiences who visit the County over the 19 days.
Loughborough is now firmly positioned as being a key location as part of the overall programme and benefits from publicity to the festival audience. The full festival brochure is available by visiting www.comedy-festival.co.uk
The BIG Weekend takes place from February 9-13, and performers include TV stars Seann Walsh and Paul Sinha, plus there’s some special events including the return of Hotel D’Comedie and shows at venues including The Kelso, Holywell Guesthouse and The Needle & Pin.

The weekend gives local people the chance to sample events and shows, getting a taste of the overall festival programme. As we continue to develop the programme across Leicestershire we are confident audiences and local businesses will see the benefit of having a nationally recognised cultural event on their doorstep.”
Lez Cope-Newman, Love Loughborough BID Chair, said: “As the new Chair of Love Loughborough I am pleased we are sponsoring this great event, it shines a good light on our town of Loughborough. I’m also pleased to be hosting Hotel D’Comedie once again at Holywell House and there are some other great shows lined up across venues in the town centre.”
Robbie Kerr, Venue Manager at Loughborough Town Hall said: “We are delighted to be welcoming the Big Weekend back to Loughborough Town Hall for 2017 and build on the successful 2016 run in partnership with the Leicester Comedy Festival and Loughborough BID. It is very exciting to be bringing nationally acclaimed comedians to Loughborough and look forward to welcoming audiences for what promises to be a vibrant start to February.”
