Loughborough looked blooming marvelous as it took part in a regional horticultural competition on July 13.
The East Midlands in Bloom competition judges visited the town to see how volunteers have demonstrated their pride and environmental responsibility for the local area.
Last year Loughborough won Gold for a third year in a row.
Matt Bradford, Head of Cleansing and Open Spaces said: “We’ve had a great day and really enjoyed showing the judges what Loughborough has achieved this year.
“The town is looking beautiful and we hope that the judges are pleased with the hard work that volunteers have put in over the last few months.”
“Thanks also go to our open spaces contractor, idverde and our waste contractor, Serco who both work hard to ensure the town looks great all year round.”
Chris Beale, Bloom judge said: “It’s been an enjoyable visit and we’ve met a lot of nice enthusiastic and committed people.
“We’re looking for consistency in horticultural achievement, environmental issues and the community.
“The town has changed a lot since I last visited in 2014 and it’s clear to see people have taken on board what judges have said in previous years.”
The East Midlands in Bloom results will be announced in October.
