Competition to find outstanding building design in Charnwood

The search is on for high-quality building design as the borough council launches the Charnwood Design Awards 2017.

The awards recognise the excellent work of building owners, agents and contractors on a wide range of developments and conservation projects in the borough.

The Charnwood Design Awards encourage and recognise high standards of design in the built environment and demonstrate how the Council’s vision for high-quality design, as set out in the Core Strategy which guides development in Charnwood, is being met.

There are five categories and projects must have been completed after July 1, 2015. The categories are:

•        New buildings
•        Conservation
•        Landscape
•        Sustainable construction
•        Positive contribution – this category is for projects which have positively contributed to achieving good design but cannot be considered in the other four categories

Richard Bennett, Head of Planning and Regeneration, said:  “Ensuring new development makes a positive contribution to the built and natural environment is important to us and that’s why we are delighted to launch the Charnwood Design Awards for 2017.

“This competition recognises high-quality design in buildings, landscaping, construction and sustainability. The aim is to encourage and promote high-quality design in Charnwood for the benefit of the people who live, work in and visit the borough.

“We look forward to seeing the entries for this year.”

The deadline for entries is September 4, 2017 and you can enter by visiting www.charnwood.gov.uk/charnwood_design_awards_2017_nomination_form
