A community event in Shelthorpe in Loughborough will have free activities and information on offer about the local area.
A Community Action Day has been organised by Charnwood Borough Council, in partnership with Shelthorpe Community Association and will take place on Tuesday, August 8 from 10am-12pm at Farnham Road Park, Loughborough.
The day will include multi-sports activities for children aged between five and 16, a free tool-marking event and information stalls from local organisations.
Chris Traill, Strategic Director for Neighbourhoods and Community Wellbeing said: “We’re really pleased to see the success of the Shelthorpe Community Association and it’s been great to support them with this event.
“Not only can residents find out more about the association, they can also meet local organisations that have been working in the area, report any issues they have and put forward their views, as well as enjoying the activities on offer.”
Jay Parmar, Chair of the Shelthorpe Community Association said: “With the support of the Council we have been able to get the association involved in more activities and hoping that this event is the start of many.
“We’ve been busy working on a number of projects in the area including the community garden and this is a great opportunity to show residents what we’ve been doing and ask them for their views on what we can do next to continue to improve the local area.”
Information stalls will include:
- Charnwood Borough Council
- Shelthorpe Community Association
- The Bridge
- Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service
