From bin collections to housing, street cleaning to community safety, there are hundreds of vital services of that councils deliver.
Charnwood Borough Council will be celebrating the officers who deliver these services as part of #OurDay.
The nationally recognised Twitter event sees councils use the hashtag ‘#OurDay’ to give residents an insight into what they do every day.
The borough Council will be tweeting from the @CharnwoodBC Twitter account from 6.30am.
By the end of last year’s #OurDay over 9,000 Twitter accounts had participated, and the hashtag trended at number one on Twitter for most of the day.
Councillor Jonathan Morgan, Leader of Charnwood Borough Council said: “#OurDay is a chance to show residents the work council officers do every day to support our local community.
“We want to show what really happens in 24 hours at our Council, in real-time.
“We’d encourage residents to show their support by sharing our tweets during the day.
“I’d also like to thank officers for their hard work all year round; it really does make a difference.”
#OurDay has been organised by the Local Government Association (LGA), which represents councils in England and Wales. The LGA is encouraging as many councillors and local authority staff as possible to take a couple of minutes out of their day to tell the world what they’re up to as part of a 24-hour live tweetathon, from 00.01 on Tuesday, by using the hashtag.
