Tennis players in Charnwood have been served up a treat thanks to a £108,000 revamp of courts in Loughborough.
Charnwood Borough Council has resurfaced six tennis courts at Loughborough Greenfields Bowling Club on Park Road. Markings for two netball courts have also been included.
Cllr Jenny Bokor, lead member for Loughborough said: “These tennis courts have received a significant amount of funding and I think they look fantastic. I’ve even had a quick game of tennis myself and they are great to play on.
“I’d like to encourage the community to make use of the refurbished tennis courts as a way to improve their fitness or to meet new people.”
“There are six tennis and two netball courts available for people to use. Two of the tennis courts have mini and junior markings for younger players. There are also new portable goal posts for the two netball courts.”
The old fencing around the outside of the courts has been replaced and new pathways leading up to the courts have also been installed to provide better access.
The tennis courts are free to use and will be available on a first come, first served basis. The Council will be looking to introduce a booking facility in the near future.
