Business people are being invited to find out how to make their companies more innovative.
inCharnwood and Loughborough Advanced Technology and Innovation (LATi) have organised the free and informal get-together in Loughborough to help local businesses during Leicester Innovation Week.
The How to Build Innovation in Your Business event will take place on Thursday March 7, 5.30-7.30pm at the Organ Grinder in Loughborough.
inCharnwood is an initiative by Charnwood Borough Council to drive inward investment in the area and LATi provides networking and business support.
Cllr Vardy, the Council’s lead member for planning and regeneration, said: “It’s great to be involved in this year’s Leicester Innovation Week and I’m pleased we’re once again working in partnership with LATi to bring this event to local businesses.
“I’d encourage local business people who would like to know more about innovating their business to attend. Not only will there be guest speakers but there will also be an opportunity to network and build contacts.”
Guest speaker Miles Latham is the managing partner of multi award-winning company Affixxious Film. He will share the company’s journey and how innovation has played a key role in its success.
Miles Latham said “It will always take a huge amount of determination, skill and good luck to grow a business anywhere, but fertile soil for that growth is vital - and Charnwood has been that for us at Affixxius Films.
“Our willingness to innovate has been matched by the resources and infrastructure we have around us, and even in challenging times we’re seeing how staying 'quick on your feet’ as a business is the key to sustained success.
“It will be great to share some of our experience, our successes and some of the many failures from which we’re learned.”
There will also be short talks by Gillian Hunter of LATi Ltd and Chris Grace, a business engagement officer at the Council, about how their organisations are supporting innovation in the borough.
The event is part of LLEP Business Gateway’s Leicester Innovation Week 2019 which takes place between March 4 and March 8. It aims to offer local businesses the opportunity to attend innovative events, meet university experts and learn from innovative companies.
Places at the event are limited and people are being advised to book early to avoid disappointment. Places for the event can be booked online.
