Do you know someone in Charnwood who’s sporting achievements deserve to be recognised?
Nominations for the 2019 Charnwood Sports Awards, run by Charnwood Borough Council, are now open.
The awards recognise the successes of athletes, coaches and volunteers who make a difference to sport and physical activity in the borough.
There has been a total of 849 nominations and 360 finalists since the awards launched in 2008.
Councillor Deborah Taylor, the Council’s lead member for communities, safety and wellbeing, said: “The sports awards are a great opportunity to celebrate the wide range of sporting talent in the borough.
“If you know someone who’s sporting achievements deserve to be recognised, then you can nominate them for an award on our website.
“Whether it’s someone who has been outstanding in their chosen sport, a coach that goes above and beyond or a volunteer, recognise the fantastic work they do by nominating them.”
This year’s awards ceremony will take place on Monday, December 2.
The deadline for nominations is 5pm on Friday, September 27.
There are 11 categories to choose from and include:
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year
- Junior Volunteer of the Year
- Junior Team of the Year
- Senior Sportsperson of the Year
- Senior Volunteer of the Year
- Senior Team of the Year
- Coach of the Year
- Club of the Year
- Best Community Sport/Physical Activity Project
- Outstanding Contribution to Physical Activity, Sport & School Sport
- Joe Humphries Special Recognition Award
