Charnwood Community Action is here to help – that’s the message to residents in Birstall, Thurmaston and Wanlip which are affected by the lockdown restrictions around Leicester.
The Charnwood Community Action campaign was launched by the borough council and John Storer Charnwood at the start of the coronavirus pandemic to provide support to the local community.
Cllr Leigh Harper-Davies, lead member for communities, said: “We know this is a worrying and upsetting time for our residents in Birstall, Thurmaston and Wanlip who have been included in the lockdown area and we are committed to working with partners through Charnwood Community Action to help support them.
“We’ve seen an amazing community spirit across Charnwood and it’s even more important we continue support our residents in these areas.
“If you or someone you know needs help while in the lockdown area, I would encourage you to get in touch with the team so they can look at how we may be able to help you.”
The Council will also be working with town and parish councils to support residents.
Charnwood Community Action offers befriending calls, signposts residents to a range of services and delivers food parcels to people most in need who do not have any other support networks.
