Children are being invited to take part in a pumpkin decorating competition at Loughborough town centre on Friday October 22.
Charnwood Borough Council is hosting the event as part of its continued celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the Loughborough Markets and Fair.
Children under the age of 12 can come down to the stall at in the Market Place (outside Loughborough Town Hall) between the hours of 10am and 2pm and decorate a pumpkin in a variety of fun and creative ways, before taking it home in preparation for Halloween night on October 31.
Participants can sign up for the competition in advance via the Council website or turn up on the day and take part. There will be plenty of pumpkins to go round.
The winner will be announced on the day on social media and will be contacted to arrange for the collection of their prize. All participants will be given a tote bag and some goodies.
There will also be a face-painter and magician at the stall for the duration of the event, so whether you want to take part in the competition or not, there will be lots to see and do.
Councillor Jenny Bokor, lead member for Loughborough, said: “We are excited to be hosting another fun event at our fantastic Loughborough market as part of its 800th anniversary.
“We held a cookie and cake competition at Loughborough market in August and it was enthusiastically received by the local children.
“I am confident that we’ll see a good number of participants and have plenty of spooky fun in the lead up to Halloween. We look forward to seeing you all.”
The event is being funded thanks to the Welcome Back Fund which is supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
