Update on council tax rebate to help with energy bills

Published: Fri 1st April, 2022

Council tax rebates to help with energy bills will start to be paid to Charnwood residents who pay by Direct Debit in May 2022.

The Government announced a £150 council tax rebate payment to households in council tax bands A-D to help with rising energy bills.

Charnwood Borough Council will confirm details soon about how residents who do not pay their council tax by Direct Debit will receive their payment. Residents are urged to keep an eye on our council tax rebate webpage which is regularly updated.

For those who receive Housing Benefits, Universal Credit or Council Tax Support, the rebate will not affect your entitlement to these benefits.

The Council will also be launching a discretionary scheme for vulnerable households who may not qualify for the council tax rebate. Further details will be announced shortly.
