Council tax rebates to help with energy bills will start to be paid to Charnwood residents who pay by Direct Debit next week.

The Government announced a £150 council tax rebate payment to households in council tax bands A-D to help with rising energy bills.

If your April council tax instalment was taken from your account on April 3, 2022, your payment is expected to be in your account around May 6, 2022. If your April instalment was taken on a later date, your rebate is expected to be in your account around May 12, 2022.

For residents who do not pay their council tax by Direct Debit, your household will be issued with a singled use Post Office voucher. This voucher can be taken to any post office and redeemed for the £150 cash payment.

Your voucher will be emailed to you if you have selected your bills by email, otherwise the voucher will be sent out by post.

We anticipate the vouchers will be issued from May 18, 2022 onwards.

For those who receive Housing Benefits, Universal Credit or Council Tax Support, the rebate will not affect your entitlement to these benefits.
