Charnwood Borough Council has been searching for a resident who was born in 1952 – the year of the Queen’s accession to the throne – to join the Mayor of Charnwood in a lighting of a beacon ceremony in Queen’s Park in Loughborough on June 2.

The winner of the competition is Loughborough resident Stephen Hutchins, who turns 70 on Christmas Day this year, entered the competition after spending all of his working life serving Her Majesty.
