Over 50 good causes are continuing to be supported by the Charnwood Community Lottery as it marks its fourth birthday.

Charnwood Borough Council launched the community lottery in 2018 and since then, over 145,000 tickets have been bought and £87,000 has been raised to support community groups in the borough.

Over £21,000 has been won by residents over the past four years, with 60p of every ticket going towards 58 causes across Charnwood.

Cllr Leigh Harper-Davies, the council’s lead member for communities, said: “Since its creation, the Charnwood Community Lottery has been fantastic in supporting local causes across the borough.

“So many organisations in Charnwood receive vital funding through the lottery and it helps them continue to do so much in the community.”

Each ticket costs £1 and players have the chance of winning up to £25,000 every week.

Many of the great causes that have signed up to the Lottery can be supported through purchasing tickets. They include Anstey Community Library, Glebe House, Little Bird SOS and Thorpe Acres Scouts.

When a player chooses to support one of the registered good causes, the organisation will receive a 50p donation, with 10p going towards a central community fund.

A group that has recently signed up for the Charnwood Community Lottery is Loughborough based boating club, Soaring Dragons. You can read more about the dragon boat racing club and why they joined the lottery on our website.
