The Mayor of Charnwood, councillors and officers of Charnwood Borough Council are deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty The Queen.
The Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr Jenny Tillotson, said: “This is a very sad day for our nation and on behalf of the borough of Charnwood, I would like to express our sincerest condolences to the Royal Family.
“Queen Elizabeth selflessly served our country for so many years and earned the respect of not just this nation, but of those around the world.
“Now is a time for mourning, but we should remember her, with pride and affection.”
Flags are being flown at half-mast at the Council’s main office and at Loughborough Town Hall.
Books of condolence will be opened at the main Council office in Southfield Road and at Loughborough Town Hall.
People are invited to sign them.
If people wish to show their respect by placing flowers in Loughborough town centre, we would respectfully request they are left in Queen’s Park in Loughborough and not wrapped in paper or cellophane.
More details about books of condolence, flowers and other information will be made available on this webpage.
