New strategy to engage with tenants and improve services

A fresh commitment and strategy to help engage with tenants has been made by Charnwood Borough Council.

It has published a new customer engagement strategy to improve the way the Council involves tenants and leaseholders in shaping its services.

The Council has around 5,500 homes and says the new strategy will help offer tenants and leaseholders opportunities to work with the Council to scrutinise, improve and deliver excellent services.

Councillor James Poland, lead member for public housing, said: “Engaging our tenants and leaseholders and strengthening our relationship with them is incredibly important to myself and the entire Council.

“After two years of limited engagement with our housing tenants due to the pandemic, it is more important than ever to be in close contact with our tenants, listen to them, and deliver on our promise to provide great services.

“It has been great to see groups such as the Charnwood Housing Residents Forum (CHRF) and Senior Citizens Forum meeting in person again, and there are a number of opportunities for our tenants to be involved in decision-making at the Council and have their say in the services we provide.

“There are also opportunities to meet friends and make new ones in a number of events that the Council organises, such as get-togethers at the sheltered courts and the garden competition awards, which gets bigger with every passing year.

“Please take the time to read the strategy and get in touch with the customer engagement team if you have any comments and/or suggestions.”

The strategy sets out how the Council will make it easier for tenants and leaseholders to engage on matters that interest them and through a variety of channels.

It also sets out to empower our residents to challenge decisions and get involved in setting priorities; use customer feedback to improve services and embed customer engagement in all services offered to tenants and leaseholders.
