Update: We're pleased to confirm we have removed the graffiti from the War Memorial.

On Wednesday October 26 we issued the following statement regarding the Carillon Tower in Queen's Park, Loughborough being vandalised with graffiti.

Statement

We are disgusted that the Town’s War Memorial – the Carillon Tower in Queen’s Park, Loughborough - has been vandalised overnight with graffiti, particularly so close to Remembrance Day when we will be honouring those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

We are taking immediate action to remove the graffiti and will be liaising with specialist stonemasons to ensure the stonework is not further damaged while it is cleaned off.

The matter is being reported to the police and we would encourage anyone with information to report it to the police to help them identify those responsible.

We are reviewing CCTV footage in the area. There are already existing plans to add further CCTV to the park.

However, ultimately the individuals responsible for this mindless and offensive act should reflect upon their despicable actions.
