A competition to find artwork that will become the Mayor of Charnwood’s Christmas card for 2022 has found a winner.
10-year-old Daisy Morris from Loughborough had her design picked from 163 entries, which showed a wide range of imagination and creativity.
The Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr Jennifer Tillotson, surprised Daisy during her morning assembly at Rendell Primary School on Friday, November 25 to reveal that she had won the competition.
Daisy and her family have been invited to a presentation in the Mayor’s parlour next month, where Daisy will be awarded with a framed copy of her Christmas card and a £50 gift card.
Daisy’s fantastic reindeer artwork will now become the Mayor’s Christmas card and be distributed to colleagues and associates.
Daisy, who along with being a budding artist is also a School MP at Rendell Primary School, said: “I am so happy that the Mayor chose my drawing and that so many people will receive it as their Christmas card.”
The Mayor said: “We received some incredible artwork from some very talented children for this competition, and choosing a winner was difficult.
“Daisy’s entry stood out immediately, and no matter how many entries I looked at, I kept coming back to her striking and colourful design. I knew we had found our winner.
“I hope that winning the competition brings Daisy and her family a lot of joy, and that they have a superb Christmas together.
“I would also like to thank every child who entered the competition. I hope that everyone who entered continues to keep being creative.”
Children aged 11 and under and living in Charnwood were encouraged to enter the competition, and there was total creative freedom as long as the design was Christmas themed.
