Last chance to submit nominations for Charnwood Sports Awards

Time is running out for residents to put forward their nominations for this year’s Charnwood Sports Awards.

The awards, run by Charnwood Borough Council, celebrate sporting achievements of clubs and individuals as well as the dedication of volunteers.

Schools and workplaces in the borough making a difference to the health and wellbeing of residents will also be recognised at the awards.

Nominations close at midnight on Friday October 6.

This year’s awards are kindly being supported by Active Together, Efficiency East Midlands (EEM), Serco, Fusion Lifestyle, Loughborough College, Loughborough University, South Charnwood Schools Sport Partnership Network and Idverde.

Cllr Liz Blackshaw, the Council’s lead member for communities and neighbourhoods said: “The closing date is fast approaching so I would encourage anyone thinking of submitting an entry to do so before it is too late.

“Charnwood Sports Awards give people the chance to celebrate and highlight the brilliant sporting talent and contributions to physical activity in the borough. We will also acknowledge workplaces and schools which have had a positive impact on the wellbeing of residents as well as the important role volunteers and coaches play.

“Whether you want to nominate an individual who has been outstanding in their sport or a group which has helped to increase your physical activity, highlight the fantastic work they do by nominating then for a sports award.”

This year’s awards ceremony will take place on Monday, December 4.

There are nine different categories including:

• Let's Get Moving Schools Award
• Junior Sportsperson of the Year
• Senior Sportsperson of the Year
• Let’s Get Moving Junior Ambassador of the Year
• Let’s Get Moving Senior Ambassador of the Year
• Outstanding Contribution to Sport, Physical Activity and Health
• Club of the Year
• Let’s Get Moving Wellbeing at Work Award
• Joe Humphries Memorial Trust Award
