We are committed to supporting armed forces personnel and veterans as part of the Armed Forces Community Covenant, a scheme which encourages understanding and awareness of the issues affecting veterans and their families within the local community, and promotes better help and support for existing and ex-Armed Forces personnel and their families.
Help and support for the Armed Forces community and their families
As a council we want to help members of our community settle into the area in the quickest time and with the minimal upheaval.

Our armed forces champion
In 2013 we signed the Armed Forces Community Covenant agreement, which details our commitment to assist both our serving and ex-service Armed Services personnel, and an Armed Forces Champion was nominated.
Councillor Hilary Fryer’s role is to ensure that commitment to the Community Covenant is embedded at the highest levels within the council.
