'Hit the Street'

Residents in Leicester and its outlying areas, including Birstall, Thurmaston and Wanlip in Charnwood, are to be asked to continue to follow stricter lockdown restrictions for at least two weeks, and non-essential shops will be closed. More information - including frequently asked questions and a postcode checker - can be found at

Have you been thinking about getting back into sports or trying something new? Perhaps you want to get fitter, meet new people or just have fun.

If you are aged between 14 and 25 you can get active by 'hitting the street'!

Hit the Street is a three year project run by Charnwood Borough Council, as part of our Community Sport Activation Fund. The project aims to encourage more people to take up sport and complete at least 30 mins of exercise through regular free or low cost, informal sport sessions in local communities around Loughborough, Syston and Thurmaston.

Sports on offer include; football, rugby, badminton, cricket, martial arts, boxing (and boxercise), basketball, dance, Zumba, tennis, gym and swim and alternative sports (inc. parkour, skate, BMX). There are also coaching and volunteering opportunities available for both young people and adults.

Everybody is welcome and all equipment is provided, so all you have to do is show up!
