BACS and Home banking services

Residents in Leicester and its outlying areas, including Birstall, Thurmaston and Wanlip in Charnwood, are to be asked to continue to follow stricter lockdown restrictions for at least two weeks, and non-essential shops will be closed. More information - including frequently asked questions and a postcode checker - can be found at

You can use home banking to pay for the following:

  • Council Tax
  • Housing Rent
  • Business Rates
  • Sundry Invoices (including Garden Waste Scheme)
  • Housing Benefit Overpayment
  • Council Housing Invoices

To make a payment using the telephone, TV, computer or other remote banking services offered by your bank or building society, please quote the following:

  • Sort Code: 40-30-24
  • Account Number: 61820559
  • Council account or invoice number: shown on your bill, notice or invoice

Please note

  • In respect of Council Tax payments, please pre-fix this account/reference number with 78
  • Housing rent payments via standing order should be prefixed 73 followed by your 8 digit Tenancy Reference number

This is important as we may experience difficulty in crediting your account without the correct account or invoice number. Please allow up to ten working days for your payments to reach us.

BACS payments

You can use BACS to pay for the following:

  • Business Rates
  • Contract Parking
  • Sundry invoices
  • Council Housing invoices
  • Planning Applications

Please quote the following:

  • Sort Code: 40-30-24
  • Account number: 61820559
  • Your council account number or payment reference: shown on the front of your bill or notice.

It is most important to make sure that this number is quoted on all remittance advices as we may experience difficulty in crediting your account if it is not quoted.

For Planning payments you must quote the Planning Application or Planning Portal reference number. You should also email a remittance advice to including your name and planning application details (including site address) as we may experience difficulty in applying your payment to your application without this.
