Our neighbourhoods and partnerships team work with communities to help them to improve their local environment and the wellbeing of the residents.
The key aim of this service is to help to empower these groups to work together and take a lead role in their communities, making changes for the better and ensuring they have a voice.
We support two Loughborough community hubs:
- Marios Tinenti Centre, The Bell Foundry
- Altogether Place, Warwick Way Estate
These hubs provide a local place for residents to access services and get involved in community-driven activities.
Support is also given to a number of community, resident and voluntary groups across the borough with particular focus on those in identified priority neighbourhoods.
We work closely with internal services and organisations such as the police, health, voluntary sector and housing to provide a co-ordinated approach to supporting these communities.
What matters in your neighbourhood?
In April 2008 we carried out a survey with a random selection of residents from within our priority neighbourhoods (and monitoring areas) within Loughborough, Syston, Thurmaston and Mountsorrel.
The aim of this survey was to find out how local people in these areas felt about their neighbourhoods and what their priorities were. It covered issues including healthy eating, access to services, community involvement and anti-social behaviour.

The key priorities identified by local people included traffic congestion, transport, street cleaning, parking and anti-social behaviour.
We carried out this survey on behalf of Charnwood Together, a group of organisations from across the borough working together to make the Charnwood a great place to live and work.
