Please note that during weather conditions that consist of heavy rain, the motorised shopmobility vehicles may not be issued for use due to health and safety reasons.
Should the motorised shopmobility vehicle have already been issued prior to the adverse weather, we would request that shelter is sought to prevent water contamination within the components.

If you require the use of a shopmobility vehicle for an urgent appointment i.e. an appointment that cannot be re-arranged, then we will do our best to assist you. You will need to pre-book and provide evidence of your appointment (please note we only take bookings up to and including 7 days in advance). Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

The latest time for the loan of a vehicle is 2.30pm.
Shopmobility is a scheme for people who have limited mobility. Motorised scooters, an electric or manual wheelchair can be booked to allow easy access to local facilities and for shopping in the town centre.
Please be aware we do not sell any equipment, we only hire them out to registered members.
To Register for Shopmobility
All users must be registered before using Shopmobility and a Driving Licence, Passport or Utility Bill will be required for identification when applying.
New members will require instruction to demonstrate that they are competent reversing and manoeuvring in areas of restricted access and full instruction will be given to help members achieve the required competency. Please book in advance as instruction is carried out on Wednesdays only.
The charge is £2.70 (as of April 1, 2019) per member use of a shopmobility vehicle and is a standard charge for the use of any item of shopmobility equipment irrespective of length of time used. However, on days of high demand a 3 hour limit may be necessary to ensure that demand is met.

The telephone is available from 9am but has an answering machine for use when unattended. Shopmobility is based in Loughborough Town Hall and is accessable via Town Hall Passage, which runs to the side of the building.

Parking and travel arrangements
There is a limited amount of dedicated car parking available and this must be booked in advance.
However, there is a privately owned pay and display car park adjacent to the shopmobility office where users of the service can park free of charge in the designated spaces.
John Storer Charnwood provides transport for local residents who have difficulty accessing normal public transport. Firstly there is the Community Car scheme which is provided by volunteers at very reasonable prices and secondly there is a mini bus available on Fridays only. Bookings for both of these services should be made several days in advance and further information can be obtained by contacting John Storer House on 01509 631761.
Safety and Insurance
Your safety and the safety of other people must be taken into account whilst you are using a Loughborough Shopmobility vehicle. Speed must be kept to a minimum and users must be fully aware that pedestrians may walk across the path of the vehicle without warning.
Only users trained and approved by Loughborough Shopmobilty staff are authorised to use these vehicles.
Loughborough Shopmbility vehicles are covered for Third Party insurance claims only and does not cover injury to the user.
Accidents of any description irrespective of any damage or injury, must be reported to Shopmobilty staff immediately. Your membership could be affected if you fail to do so.
