Shop Safe, Shop Local – that’s the message for our campaign to support local high streets in Charnwood.
Along with partners we are calling on people to support their local high streets and reassure them that significant steps have been taken to ensure visitors are safe when shopping in the borough.
Since the campaign started we have added extra signage to high streets across the borough, promoted the high streets across social media, the media, our website and other channels. We have also advertised the campaign in the media to highlight the safe and fantastic shopping experience in Charnwood.
We have also launched a virtual high street for Charnwood so local people can shop locally online.
Businesses in Charnwood have been sharing their pandemic stories as part of the campaign.
Jamie Reynolds, branch manager at A-Plan Insurance
Tom Duffin from Stonehurst Farm
Kyla Fory, manager at Watermead Day Nursery
To mark the return of non-essential retail, pubs, restaurants and cafes we produced this video highlighting what the area has to offer and reinforcing the messages around the need to keep on following Covid-19 restrictions.
The Shop Safe, Shop Local campaign is funded thanks to the Reopening High Streets Safely Fund which is supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
The campaign is also being supported by Love Loughborough.

Shop Local Online
As part of the Shop Safe, Shop Local campaign we have launched an online e-commerce site for local businesses.
Shop Local Resources
We have produced some resources to help keep your business Covid-secure. These can be downloaded to display in your windows or inside your premises to show you are following Government guidance and protecting staff and members of the public.
As businesses in Charnwood prepare to open their doors again when lockdown is over, there are many plans and provisions that need to be considered.
If you're a local business and want to get involved by sharing your story of how you are operating in a Covid-secure way, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
