Sat 15th July, 2017, 10am to 4pm
For the fibre fan. Whether your interest is felting or spinning you might like to know more about how fleece goes from sheep to prepared fibre.
We will cover the basics of skirting and washing a fleece, followed by different methods of fibre preparation. A range of fleece breeds will be used during the day as well as dyed fibres so you can play with colours.
This is a hands on day, so you will get to try out lots of different tools, including hand carders, a drum carder, wool combs and blending boards.
You are welcome to bring your spinning wheel or spindle if you would like to enjoy some time working with the fibres you have prepared during breaks.
The course fee includes tuition, materials and refreshments, you will need to bring your own lunch. Courses take place on our beautiful organic farm in our cosy classroom, you may even get to spot a few of the sheep.
10 spaces are available on this course.
Points to note:
- Please be aware wool and animal fibres are used during this session, it is not recommended for those with sensitivities to these items.
