Idg5 JPf25 G UD 13719561 1197527370291339 2378248263635606201 O2

Sat 15th September, 2018, 1pm to 2pm

A half day experience for the bee fan who would like to know more.

We start off with a short talk on some of the basic aspects of bee keeping; including the bees in the hive, the jobs they do and an introduction to the equipment used.

An opportunity to look inside a hive will follow as we suit up (bee suits provided) and head out to the apiary to carry out a hive inspection.

This experience is a great choice for anyone who has ever thought about keeping bees but would like an opportunity to get a little hands on before diving in.

Bee suits and gloves will be provided, however, you will need to bring wellies (recommended) or sturdy shoes and socks you can tuck the bee suit into.

The experience will run from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, please arrive ten minutes before the start time to allow for sign in and making a cuppa.

A minimum of six attendees are required for the experience to run. Sessions may be rearranged or cancelled if the minimum numbers are not met, where this is necessary we will give the maximum possible notice and offer a full refund where applicable.
Please note we can only open the hives in good weather.

If rain is predicted is may be necessary to reschedule your session, we will give as much notice as possible in this situation.
This experience is suited to those aged 12 and over, under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult at a ratio of no more than 1:2.

We are making use of the converted buildings on the farm, as a result we don't currently have a disabled accessible toilet, we will be fixing this as soon as possible.

Please be aware there is a small risk of bee stings during the session. If you have an allergy to bee stings this experience is not suitable.

After booking we will contact you via email to check what size of bee suit you require. Please make sure you provide this information at least a week before the session to ensure we have a suitable bee suit.

If you would like to meet the bees with younger children we can run a family session for two adults and two children (minimum seven years of age). This version lasts two hours and you will be the only visitors present during the session.

We are flexible on dates and times for the family session so please get in touch to have a chat.
