Shakespeare's As You Like It - in Quorn

Articles 3947 Idg5 JPf25 G UD DSC 0078 S2

Sat 24th August, 2019, 2pm to 3pm

Come and join the New Quorndon Shakespeare Company for one of Shakespeare’s most delightful plays that will be performed partly indoors and partly in the open air in the beautiful Stafford Orchard.

As You Like It will begin in traditional theatre manner in the main hall of Quorn Old School in Stafford Orchard which will represent Duke Fredericks’ palace and the audience will be treated to a quite spectacular wrestling match between ‘Big Charles’ and the youthful Orlando. Then, when Rosalind and Celia go to seek Duke Senior in the ‘Forest of Arden’, the audience will accompany them on a short walk to the willow by the brook.

The beautiful Stafford Orchard is the backdrop for the most part of this pastoral adventure as Rosalind in disguise leads Orlando a merry dance, the faithful Silvius adores the feckless Phebe, Touchstone pursues honest Audrey and Celia falls for the charms of reformed Olivia. After the interval the audience will be seated by the avenue of lime trees in the park where Orlando’s poems to Rosalind are discovered. The wedding celebrations will round off the story in the centre of the park and will include dancing and singing. Seating will be provided for the audience throughout and, if the weather is inclement, the entire performance will take place in the hall of the Old School.

The production takes place over the August Bank Holiday on Saturday 24th, Sunday 25th and Monday 26th August. It starts at 2pm each day in the Main Hall of the Old School.

Tickets are available now from the Old School Tearooms, Quorn Formal Hire or from www.nqsc.co.uk Tickets are £8 if booked before 19th August, £10 if booked after 19th August.
