Loughborough Cemetery (off Leicester Road)

Loughborough Cemetery was created in 1857. The Victorian chapels of the oldest part are surrounded by pathways and plots designed to a plan by Loudon, a famous landscape gardener. The new cemetery next to the old one was created by the Loughborough Corporation in 1947. It contains war graves as well as plots of different creeds and communities. It also comprises an area for cremated remains and the Crematorium itself. The Crematorium is now run by a private company, belonging to Service Corporation International(Telephone 01509 230240). The cemetery and burials within it are run entirely by Charnwood Borough Council.
