These are payments made by Charnwood Borough Council, based on rules set by the Government, to help you pay your rent or council tax if you are on a low income. We have very little discretion on how to apply the rules.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Changes in the way your Housing or Council Tax Benefit is Assessed from 2nd November 2009If you are getting Child Benefit the amount you get will be ignored in calculating how much benefit you are entitled to. Also, if you are over sixty, any savings you have under £10,000 will be ignored. Benefit entitlements will be recalculated automatically to take account of these changes for anyone that is receiving housing or council tax benefit on or after 2nd November 2009. |
