In addition to those times when the Council meets as a whole, some the Council's functions are carried out by its committees.

Executive functions are carried out by the Cabinet. Regulatory decisions are taken by the Plans and Regulatory committees. Scrutiny of how the Council is performing and of the decisions taken by the Cabinet is carried out by the Council's Scrutiny Committees. The Standards Committee's role is to maintain and promote high standards of conduct.

Council, Cabinet and committee agendas and minutes from May 2003 onwards are now available as PDF files. Agendas for meetings are published five working days before the meeting. We aim to publish the minutes of Cabinet meetings within two working days and the minutes of all other meetings within ten working days of the meeting.
