The Borough Council has received recommendations from an Independent Remuneration Panel in respect of the basic and special responsibility allowances paid to councillors, effective from 12th May 2008.

Further to the above, the Borough Council has accepted the Panel's recommendations and has amended the scheme of allowances in accordance with the Panel's recommendations.

The Council believes in openess and transparency. Each year the Council publishes the amount paid to Councillors in allowances and the amounts claimed in expenses.
