Local Development SchemeThe Local Development Scheme is the timetable for producing the documents that will go into Charnwood 2026, the Local Development Framework. The scheme tells you when documents will be produced and when you can expect to get involved.

We are currently reviewing our timetable.

Work to prepare the Charnwood Core Strategy has been ongoing during 2009 and 2010 and a submission draft of the plan was to be published for consultation in March. However, there are still questions around alternative directions for growth and further evidence is required before a decision can be taken on the final submission version of the plan. It is unlikely that this decision will be made until June 2010. This delay also affects the rest of the Local Development Framework programme since other planning documents such as the Site Allocations Development Plan Document and Development Management Policies Development Plan Document are not planned to start until the Core Strategy has been subject to an Examination in Public.

Local Development Scheme

The current Local Development Scheme was consider by Cabinet on 18th January 2007. The reports are availbel to view below:

It was approved by the Government Office for the East Midlands in February 2007 and was effective from the 23rd February 2007. It sets out:

  • the local development documents that the Borough Council will prepare and the timetable for their preparation;
  • the policies the Council will save from the existing Borough of Charnwood Local Plan; and
  • a timetable for preparing the Statement of Community Involvement.
