The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets outs how the Council will involve residents, businesses, groups and organisations in preparing the Local Development Framework Documents and when consulting on planning applications.
The Council has now adopted the SCI.

Stage 1 |
Pre- Submission consultation with key stakeholders was undertaken in October 2004. Comments made at this stage informed the development of the SCI at the next stage. |

Stage 2 |
Pre- Submission consultation on Preferred Options version of the SCI was undertaken in January/February 2005. Comments made at this stage informed the development of the SCI at the next stage. |

Stage 3 |
Submission of SCI to Secretary of State. A formal six week period of public consultation on the submission version of the SCI was undertaken in May/June/July 2005. Only comments made at this stage are considered at the Examination. |

Stage 4 |
Examination of the SCI by an independent Planning Inspector to assess the soundness of the SCI - September 2005. |

Stage 5 |
Adoption of the SCI, making changes recommended by the binding Inspector’s Report, in January 2006. |
Adoption (Stage 5)
The Council adopted the SCI on the 27th January 2006. All Local Development documents prepared by the Council will need to follow the procedures for consultation and engagement set out in this document. A copy of the SCI is available to be downloaded.

The Inspector’s Report following the written representations examination to consider the soundness of the Statement of Community Involvement was received by the Council in November 2005. The Inspector's Report is binding. The report and the recommendations of the Inspector can be viewed by clicking the link below.
