Description

Hotel, now operated by Ramada Jarvis. Built c1930 to replace earlier Kings Head, (demolished to accommodate road widening). Neo-Georgian. Ground storey clad with ashlar having deep recessed joints and capped by square cornice under 1st floor windows. Beige brick to upper storeys. 3 bays, centre bay set back, 5 windows wide and with later entrance canopy. Outer bays each with a single window. Centre bay, 4 storeys with pitched red pantile roof. Flanking bays, 3 storeys with upstanding parapet and flat roof. Generally, small paned mock sash windows. Awkward 3 light metal casement windows with stone mullions and flat arched head to GF. 1st floor windows crowned with semicircular arched head containing stucco faced recess above window head.
