Description | Originally National Provincial Bank & Offices. Now Retail Premises/Offices Perhaps Early C20. GF altered to accommodate Late C20 shop fronts. Shop front on Right conceals original structure. Italianate styling with Baroque Revival embellishments. Red/blue brick with stone fascia and cornice above GF, decorated stone lintols and ashlar parapet surmounting dentilated cornice. Flat roof concealed by upstanding parapet. 3 storeys. 3 bays. Expressed centre bay containing original entrance surmounted by arched stone pediment. Pediment crowned with upstanding brick parapet framed by stone scrolls. Above entrance, 1st floor balcony/canopy with ironwork balustrade carried on stone brackets. Unsatisfactory replacement casement windows with opening top lights. |
