Once you have registered to vote your name will be added to the electoral register.
The register is a public document, mainly used as a list of voters for elections. The list is also used in other circumstances such as crime detection, for jury service and credit checks.
Electoral registration is separate from other parts of the council. If you pay Council Tax it doesn't automatically mean you're registered to vote.
If you can't get online, you can call us on 01509 634546.
It is important to register:
- to exercise your democratic right to vote in any public election
- you may not be able to open a bank account, have a mobile phone contract or get credit.
If you're not sure if you are already registered, you can contact Electoral Services to find out.
