We teamed up once again with our open spaces partner idverde to bring back the free tree scheme

In November and December 2022, 4,000 trees were handed out to residents, community groups and parish councils across Charnwood.

Each household, community group and parish council could request up to two trees and there was a choice of four varieties:

  • Crab apple
  • Hazel
  • Rowan
  • Silver Birch

The trees were approximately 20cm – 40cm when collected. Each household was also given a guide on how to look after them properly.

Trees were allocated on a first come, first served basis and distributed from two locations in the borough on the following dates:

  • Saturday December 3, 10am-2pm – Derby Road Playing Fields, Loughborough, LE11 5FJ
  • Sunday December 4, 10am-2pm– Hallam Fields Cricket Pavillion, Long Meadow Way, Birstall, LE4 3LL

Loughborough Market stall

The team also ran a stall at Loughborough Market on Thursday December 8, 2022 where people were able to just turn up and grab a free tree.
