Councillors' allowances and expenses

Customers may experience online payment disruptions on Sunday April 18 between 4-7am due to essential maintenance. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We have opened an online book of condolence for His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh.

Each year we receive recommendations from an Independent Remuneration Panel about the allowances and expenses paid to councillors.

The current scheme of allowances has been updated following the Council meeting's consideration of the Panel's report in February 2020.

Schedules 1 & 2 of the approved Scheme of Members’ Allowances for 2020/21 was updated via a Delegated Decision (DD155 2020) to reflect the 2.75% national pay award and was backdated to 1st April 2020.  For the detail please refer to the Delegated Decision which can be found in this link:

We believe in openess and transparency. Each year we publish the amount paid to councillors and independent members in allowances and the amounts claimed in expenses.
