Nominations for Charnwood Community Heroes 2020 are now closed.

Heroes come in all forms and sometimes it is the small things people do which make a huge difference to those around them.

These heroes can include for example:

  • someone who looks after their garden to brighten up the area
  • those who befriend vulnerable people living in the community
  • someone who litter picks in their local area
  • supporters of voluntary groups

There are many local people who do lots of amazing things for their communities and neighbourhoods. In order to recognise the contribution these individuals make, we invite you to tell us about them.

Both nominee and nominator must live or work within Charnwood for the nomination to be eligible.

Nominating a local hero

Everyday heroes are found throughout Charnwood and this is a great chance to give them the recognition they deserve. So why not celebrate these extraordinary people by nominating them as a community hero.

We will contact the nominee to ask permission to tell their story via our various media channels.

COVID-19 has meant that the award presentation will be a virtual event this year, presented on the Charnwood Community Heroes and Charnwood Borough Council's Facebook pages on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at a time to be confirmed.

All those nominated will be invited to the special virtual awards presentation.

All we need is for people to nominate their heroes.

The nine open categories are: Young Hero; Super Trooper; Good Neighbour; Inspiring Others; Green Hero; Business Community Action; Top Team; Beyond the Call of Duty; and Brilliant Board/Trustee Member.
