The Council has signed the Armed Forces Covenant and has received the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award.
We have also shown our commitment to supporting the Armed Forces Community with a guaranteed interview scheme for veterans and reservists who apply for a job with us. This also extends to spouses and civil partners of current serving personnel.
This means that those who meet the essential criteria are guaranteed an interview.
Reservists are also given up to two weeks’ additional paid leave to attend an annual training camp.
Staff members at the Council can also undertake training to better understand and support the Armed Forces Community.
