The Charnwood Design Awards provide the opportunity to recognise the excellent work that is being executed on a wide range of development and conservation projects. 

They are an important part of the continuing process of encouraging and promoting better standards of design in the built environment.

These Awards celebrate the achievements of designers, developers and owners who have shown through their work the importance of good design in creating a better environment. 

The Design Awards were held on Thursday November 28, 2019 at Fairfield Preparatory School, Loughborough, who won an Award in 2017.

There were 8 finalists:

  • Loughborough University Student Village
  • Fowke Street Apartments, Rothley
  • Mountsorrel Memorial Centre
  • Storkit Meadows, Wymeswold
  • 58 Brook Street, Wymeswold
  • The Oaks, 133 The Ridings, Rothley
  • Milk Bottle Yard, Forest Road, Loughborough
  • Loughborough School Sports Hall

The overall winner was the Loughborough University Student Village for the contribution it makes to place-making, sustainability and well-being.

Other winners on the night included Fowke Street Apartments, Rothley for the contribution it makes in terms of new buildings within a conservation area and Mountsorrel Memorial Centre considered the best “new build scheme” in terms of architectural quality.
