Anti-Money Laundering and Fraud Prevention

Form is to be completed and submitted with the RTB1 form (right to buy form). If this form is not completed with the RTB1 From (right to buy form) your right to application will not be progressed until the Anti-Money Laundering and Fraud Prevention Form has been received.

Evidence of how you will be paying for the property (i.e. mortgage offer, Bank statements or Gifting letter and ID from the person making the gift/payment). Please read our Anti-Money Laundering Process webpage.

  • Please ensure you have provided the required information and uploaded the relevant documents.
  • Each applicant is under a continuing duty to update Charnwood Borough Council with all changes relating to the finance of the purchase of the property under the Right to Buy scheme.
  • By signing and submitting this form, you are confirming that all parties understand Charnwood Borough Council may make any enquiries necessary in order to confirm the information specified in this form.

If any person knowingly makes a false statement / representation in securing services, property or the 'Right to Buy', which causes loss, material gain, evasion of liability or pecuniary advantages for the benefit of themselves or another, they may be prosecuted under any and all relevant legislation.

Right to Buy (RTB): Additional Information, Anti-Fraud/Anti-Money Laundering

Before filling in the application please ensure you have electronic copies of all the documents you will need to upload to the form, these can be scans or good quality, clear photographs. You will need electronic copies of:

'Authority to disclose' form - One for each of your previous Landlords who are not Charnwood Borough Council. You will need to have completed it with the landlord details and signed it. This is so that we have your permission to contact your previous landlords to confirm the details you give us.

Once you have made your application, there are strict timescales for tenants who wish to buy their home, so if you do not respond within the timescales, you will need to re-apply. It is important that you respond within the timescales provided when we contact you.

Charnwood’s 'right of first refusal’ to buy back ex-council properties sold through Right to Buy

All properties (freehold and leasehold) sold under Right to Buy legislation since January 18, 2005 contain a covenant which requires any owner intending to sell their property within 10 years of purchase from Charnwood Borough Council a requirement to offer the property back to the Council.
