Education

School places for Ukrainian refugees are available. If your children are of Primary School age (4 - 10 years old), or of Secondary School age (11 - 16 years old), the best way to apply for a school place is through the online school application process at the Leicestershire County Council website.

Ukrainian Resources From the Open University 

Open University have new free resources for Ukrainian refugees, host families and anyone working with or supporting Ukrainian refugees in the community.

The resources aim to support Ukrainians settling in the UK, from language and careers-based courses to articles on mental health and wellbeing. They are available in both English and Ukrainian. 

The Open University also have a brand new, free, short course in Ukrainian language and culture suitable for host families and anyone working with Ukrainians which covers a range of practical topics as well as a forum for information sharing.

GoLearn Free English Language Courses

GoLearn! and Leicestershire County Council are offering FREE ESOL courses (English for Speakers of Other Languages) for Ukrainian refugees in Leicestershire. Details for how to make contact are on the Support for Ukraine page. Contact can be made by a friend, sponsor, support worker or the refugee themselves.
