Bank holiday opening arrangements

Due to essential maintenance being carried out by Pay360, customers may experience online payment disruptions on Sunday July 5 between 4:30-6:30am and Tuesday July 7 between 6-7am. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Residents in Leicester and its outlying areas, including Birstall, Thurmaston and Wanlip in Charnwood, are to be asked to continue to follow stricter lockdown restrictions for at least two weeks, and non-essential shops will be closed. More information - including frequently asked questions and a postcode checker - can be found at www.charnwood.gov.uk/restrictions.

The next Bank Holiday is Monday May 25.

As a result of this, there will be some changes to services and facility opening hours.

Council offices at Southfields

The main council office building at Southfields is currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Refuse collections

Garden waste collections are running in a reduced capacity at present. More information can be found at www.charnwood.gov.uk/gwr.

Refuse and recycling waste collections will be running as normal over the weekend.

Bulky Collections

Bulky waste collections ordered before 4pm on Thursday May 21 will be collected on Saturday May 23 from 6am instead of Monday May 25.

Telephone Contact Centre

The Council's telephone Contact Centre is open until 5pm on Friday May 22 and then:

  • Closed Monday May 25 and reopen fully as normal from 8.30am on Tuesday, May 26

The Job Centre located in the council offices is currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Charnwood Museum is closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

All three of the leisure centres below are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
