Charnwood Borough Council has introduced two new private sector housing licensing schemes in the borough which will come into force from April 1, 2023.
This means there will be three property licensing schemes: a mandatory and an additional scheme for houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) and a selective scheme for privately rented properties in the Lemyngton and Hastings wards in Loughborough.
Online applications for these schemes opened on February 1, 2023.
You will need a licence if you own and let out a property which either:
- meets the definition of being a house in multiple occupation (HMO) anywhere in the borough of Charnwood.
- is a privately rented property located in the Hastings or Lemyngton wards in Loughborough.
The public notices for the additional HMO and selective licensing schemes have been published.
This website will be updated with further information once online applications open.
